Ohio Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel visited Kent State University at Geauga on June 9 to tour its nursing program with President Todd Diacon and Geauga Dean Angela Spalsbury, Ph.D. Kent State Today was there when Tressel later took part in a roundtable discussion with Geauga County leaders and educators to share ideas on how best to prepare Ohio鈥檚 workforce.

Every year during commencement ceremonies, Kent State University at Geauga honors a dedicated supporter of this local institution of higher learning with the Friend of the Campus Award. On May 9, 2025, this distinction will go to Geauga County luminaries, Richard and Christie Frenchie.

This couple has made significant contributions to the entire community through a lifetime of leadership in local healthcare and higher education through a shared dedication to the Geauga region, values-driven career choices, service, volunteerism, and philanthropy.

This weekend marks a significant milestone for Kent State University鈥檚 Regional Campus system as more than 1,700 graduates are honored in commencement ceremonies across Northeast Ohio. On campuses spanning from Lake Erie to the Ohio River, these celebrations highlight the academic achievements and work readiness of its learners.
