Three Kent State University men's golfers, Ian Holt, Chase Johnson and Tyler McHugh, are competing in the 116th U.S. Amateur Championship at the Oakland Hills Country Club. The seven day USGA event runs from Aug. 15-21. Started in 1895, the tournament is the oldest USGA championship. Some of golf's most illustrious names have won the tournament over the years, including Bobby Jones, Chick Evans, Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods. Kent State University will hold its Summer 2016 Commencement ceremony for the Kent Campus on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). Kent State will confer 1,455 degrees, including 917 bachelor鈥檚 degrees, 440 master鈥檚 degrees, 75 doctoral degrees and 23 educational specialist degrees.
