One of Kent State University鈥檚 most prolific and renowned researchers has been elected to the European Academy of Sciences. Quan Li, Ph.D., Senior Research Fellow in Kent State鈥檚 Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute, joins the prestigious Brussels-based organization that has about 660 members from 45 nations, including 65 Nobel Prize and Fields Medal winners.

The Kent Student Center and the Kent Student Center Kiva have been closed following a small fire. The fire started around 6 p.m. on the second floor, and the fire was immediately extinguished by the fire suppression system. Thankfully, no one was injured.  

We apologize for the inconvenience this closure is causing to the Kent State community. 

Scheduled Reopening

The Kent Student Center and Kiva will reopen as scheduled on Thursday at 7 a.m.

The (NSF) recently awarded Kent State a three-year, $298,000 International Research Experience for Students (IRES) grant that will allow graduate students to travel to in Japan to study primates and human evolution at the world-renowned .

Kent State University is offering a community course that deals with the historical, cultural, social and political contexts of events before, during and after the May 4, 1970, shootings. The free course, Making Meaning of May 4: The Kent State Shootings in American History, will be held Oct. 16, 23 and 30 at the university鈥檚 May 4 Visitors Center.

Kent State University Police arrested Christopher Eugene Clark, age 21, of Newton Falls, Ohio, for gross sexual imposition, assault and obstructing official business in connection to an incident that occurred Tuesday morning near the fitness track behind DeWeese Health Center on the Kent Campus. Clark is not a Kent State student.

Even Kent State University鈥檚 highest-ranking officials can experience a tug on their loyalties when the Golden Flashes take on their alma maters in athletic contests. President Todd Diacon, his wife, Moema Furtado, and head football coach Sean Lewis all will experience that dual loyalty on Saturday when Kent State faces the University of Wisconsin-Madison at noon at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
