Kent State University at Ashtabula concluded the Fall 2016 Semester by holding the campus's 65th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, December 16, 2016, in the Main Hall Gymnasium. During the exercises, over 100 students received their degrees and were treated to remarks by keynote speaker and local entrepreneur Jean Makesh and student speaker Aaron Sherwood. Out with the old and in with the new! Kent State University ushered in the New Year with a brand new website on Sunday, Jan. 8. The inaugural Kent State County Classic basketball game took place Dec. 6, 2016 when the East Liverpool Potters hosted the Salem Quakers for the opening game of the boys’ 2016-17 basketball season. Kent State’s Columbiana County campuses welcomed fans from both ends of the county for an exciting match-up, with activities throughout the game.
