On Friday, April 22, 2016, Kent State University at Stark faculty and staff gathered in the Campus Center to recognize the 2016 Staff Excellence Award recipients. Kent State University residence halls are collecting nonperishable food, clothes, rugs, furniture and other usable items now through May 14 for the Throw 鈥榥鈥 Go initiative.The initiative, which began in 2003, gives students the opportunity to donate unwanted items during their move-out periods. Each summer students travel to The Black Hills of South Dakota for an unrivaled opportunity for geologic studies. Students examine a wide variety of rocks, geologic structures, geomorphic features, and mineral deposits. Geologic mapping and interpretation is strongly emphasized and the instruction includes field and surveying techniques, and mapping on aerial photographs and topographic base maps. Some field exercises take place in the Powder River Basin and Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, and Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
