Q2 2025 Winner

David Fair was awarded the Kent State Advisor Impact Award for the 2nd quarter of 2025. David joined the Exploratory Advising Center in 2021 and currently serves as an Academic Advisor I, supporting hundreds of undeclared students. Known for his welcoming presence and positive attitude, David is often the first to assist students who walk into the EAC. He builds strong, supportive relationships with students through both their successes and challenges. Beyond advising, David frequently leads professional development sessions across campus and actively volunteers with Flashes Fighting Hunger and the Akron/Canton Food Bank. His people-first approach defines his work and character.

Kent State's Advisor Impact Award

The Kent State University Advisor Impact Award is a quarterly recognition given to one outstanding academic advisor who has made a significant positive impact on the lives and academic success of their students. This award celebrates advisors who embody the KSU Advising Guiding Principles, including:

  • Helping students fulfill their educational goals and expand their knowledge while building meaningful, ongoing, and lasting relationships.
  • Serving as a student advocate and providing a sense of belonging.
  • Facilitating students’ holistic development academically, personally, and professionally.
  • Guiding students through university policies, procedures, and structure as a valuable resource.
  • Building a collaborative community that connects students with resources to help them achieve their desired success.
  • Being Student-Ready, taking an individualized perspective on each student.
  • Conducting themselves with professionalism, integrity, kindness, and respect.

Eligibility

All academic advisors at Kent State University are eligible. Nominations for the award will be accepted from any academic advisor, administrator, or faculty member. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

How To Nominate

To nominate an advisor, please complete the  which includes:

  • Contact information for both the nominee and nominator.
  • Examples of key behaviors observed over the past 3 months.

Award Distribution

All nominees will be honored on the advising awards website. The winning advisor will receive:

  • One remote workday certificate (Certificate redemption will be at the discretion of the winner’s supervisor).
